Band history:

In January 2011 bassist Jen Carlson formed the band Bad Cop / Bad Cop together with guitarists and singers Stacey Dee and Jennie Cotterill and drummer Myra Gallarza. The all female punk rock band started to play as many shows as they could to build up a name in the live scene of their hometown Los Angeles. Soon Los Angeles was too small for the band and they started playing concerts across the east coast of America.
In 2012 Bad Cop / Bad Cop released a demo record “Get Rad” selling the album after their concerts and hoping to get a record deal. The band couldn’t secure a record deal in 2012 but were building up an audience from their live concerts.
The band kept playing as many live shows as they could but were still without a record deal. They released a self titled 7″ EP a year after their first demo in 2013. This also didn’t get them a record deal but the band wasn’t about to give up. Stacey Dee knew NOFX bass player Fat Mike and convinced him to see Bad Cop / Bad Cop live and give them a change. Fat Mike saw and heard the band live on a festival and signed them to his Fat Wreck Chords record label. But soon after Bad Cop / Bad Cop had signed with Fat Wreck Chords bassist Jen Carlson decided that she was leaving the band, but before leaving she introduced Linh Le as the best woman to replace her. Jen left and Linh stepped in and together with Stacey, Jennie and Myra started writing new material.
Bad Cop / Bad Cop had secured a record deal with Fat Wreck Chords and released their first official EP in 2014 titled “Boss Lady”. The band kept touring as much as possible to promote their new EP and build up an audience. A year after their first EP for Fat Wreck Chords they released their debut album “Not Sorry”, released in June 2015. In August of that year the band was asked to come along on the Fat Wreck Chords 25th Anniversary Tour. This was a great change to get exposure and go on a big North American tour. After 11 shows Bad Cop / Bad Cop had to pull out of the tour so Stacey Dee could get treatment for her drug addiction. Fat Wreck Chords record owner and friend Fat Mike supported Stacey all the way through her recovery as Stacey and the other bandmembers got closer then before, learning and supporting each other all the way.
In April of 2016 Stacey was back from recovery and the four women were ready to take over the world. To make this happen the band went on their first European tour starting in France on April 23. They toured through France, Belgium and Germany and played 7 shows before returning to America. The rest of the year Bad Cop / Bad Cop toured through North America playing over 40 shows.
The first three months of 2017 was spent in a recording studio recording the band’s second album. By the end of March Bad Cop / Bad Cop was back on the road with the traveling rock festival The Wrapped Tour and played more then 60 shows from March till December. While they were touring North America with The Wrapped Tour their second Album, “Warriors”, was released in June 2017.
In March 2018 Bad Cop / Bad Cop again went on tour outside of North America, this time they went to Australia. Only playing a few shows and was back in America playing shows in April and May. On June 10 they were back in Europe playing the Download Festival and then they joined Bad Religion as an opening act on their extensive European tour. In September the band was back in America and went on their first full Canada tour. From the end of September till the end of October the band spent on the road in America. Stacey Dee got bad news at the end of 2018, she was diagnosed with first stage breast cancer. The cancer was very good treatable but the band had to put on a halt awaiting Stacey’s recovery.
Bad Cop / Bad Cop didn’t tour much in 2019, only going on a short tour in Europe and a few days in North America. The end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 they focused on writing and recording their third album. After the recording of the album the band went back to Europe for another European tour but had to cut the tour short because of the corona virus and subsequently lockdown in most European countries. In June 2020, exactly three years after the last album, the album The Ride was released. They played two more shows in America to promote the album but they were more at home then on the road in 2020, like most bands. Their break from touring lasted till August of 2021 when the band went back on the road through North America.
In 2022, like in 2021, the band stayed in America and toured the country promoting their new album. In October 2022 Jennie Cotterill announced that she was no longer in the band. She is replaced by Alex Windsor.
